- The gold rush in the area brought many settlers to Peak Hill, and the town grew rapidly. At its peak, it had a population of over 6,000 people.
- In the early 1900s, Peak Hill was known as the "Town of Tents" because many of the buildings were made of canvas and iron.
- Today, Peak Hill has a population of around 1,000 people and is known for its agriculture. Wheat, grapes, and other crops are grown in the surrounding region, and the town serves as a hub for farming and industry in the area.
- The town is home to the Peak Hill Observatory, which houses several powerful telescopes. The observatory offers tours and stargazing events for visitors.
- Another popular attraction in Peak Hill is the Big Fish Fossil Hut, which features a collection of fossils from the nearby Lake Bogan. The fossils include ancient fish, reptiles, and plants.
